Stylish outfit formula: a white or black tee/blouse, denim shorts or a miniskirt, and either sneakers or black ankle boots—essentially the perfectly cool L.A. uniform. This is the ensemble all the L.A. girls wear.

[:pt]PARIS, COUTURE, OUTONO 17: JEAN PAUL GAULTIER & FENDI[:en]PARIS, COUTURE, FALL 17: JEAN PAUL GAULTIER & FENDI[:]

[:pt]

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER: This time it was ski culture, focusing on the glamazon on the chairlift, and the bejeweled and bedazzled snow bunny.

As temperatures in Paris soared, models paraded in oversize sweaters, cropped down vests and velvet ski pants. The outfits bore witty names such as Santa Clothes, Anna Winter and Be Polaire, while the soundtrack veered from crystalline Björk tunes to that Mariah Carey song.

Love the slouchy cardigan jacket embellished with blue and white Fair Isle patterns created out of pearls, say, or the fairly abbreviated Aran sweater dress crafted from mousseline ribbons.

FENDI: Some of the models carried clever flower basket bags, the construction of which created the blooms: Cinch the braided leather drawstring and the abstracted leather and fur petal shapes form the gathered bouquets—irises, poppies, or anemones. The show ended in traditional haute couture form with the bride.

Vittoria Ceretti’s wedding dress, like many of the other dresses here, was embroidered in several different motifs. The most astounding was the lattice of the attached shawl, which consists of 9,000 tiny discs that took 1,250 hours to hand sew.

[:en]After years of a minimalist approach to his venue, for fall, Armani decided to up his ante in the set stakes, installing inside the Théâtre National de Chaillot imagery derived from the palazzo’s interiors.

This was a show with a relatively dark and somber palette of deep black that flashed every now and then with ruby, hot pink, soft sapphire and deep lilac. The show opened with a series of suits tailored to an exemplary level sometimes worn with masculine trousers, other times with lean skirts in watery shades of pink and lavender that had been edged with black patent leather scrolls and furls that echoed those of lace. From there on in there were meditations on the graphic, linear, and sculptural shaping of black close to and away from the bod in a series of evening looks.

Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo’s show was all about catching the right light, and moving in the right way. Among front-row guests were Zendaya, Chopard co-president Caroline Scheufele, photographer Ellen von Unwerth and actress Michelle Rodriguez.

The clothes were cut close to the female form and scattered with moderate embellishments. I loved the rose gold lace dress with swinging foil fringes and devoré feathers, and the black tulle gown with sequined ruffles.

Fresh from the news that he has a new investor — French billionaire François Pinault, no less — Giambattista Valli decided to say it with flowers, with a fall couture show that was an ode to spring gardens.

Models woreneedle-thin black satin platform stilettos that accentuated the thinness of their legs, poking out of minidresses embellished with lace, sequins, embroideries and macramé.

[:en]This spring we’re going bold. More specifically, we’re reaching for the brightest and the most eye-catching stripes we can find. If the spring 2017 runways are any indication, it’s time to amp up that seasonal wardrobe of yours with a fun take on the classic pattern.
